MythTV is a software based PVR (Personal Video Recorder) solution that runs under the Linux operating system. I began building my PVR because I was not really happy with our satallite provider's PVR. I'm running Red Hat Fedora Core 3 on a 2.26Ghz Celeron processor with 512mb of RAM and have been very happy with the performance so far. I found just about everything I needed at www.mythtv.org, www.byopvr.com , and later (after I already had my PVR built) wilsonet.com. I had considered doing a write up of my 3 months worth of notes I had accumulated while building this beauty, but after going through Jarod Wilson's HOWTO, I decided that it does a better job than I could ever do. If you have any interest in computers and open source software I highly reccomend building one of these babies!! It'll be the best couple of weeks that you'll ever waste :-) .
